Advises people to dress well on Culture Night as it could get cooler in the evening
Þorsteinn V. Jónsson, a meteorologist at the Icelandic Meteorological Office, advises people going to Culture Night to dress well and bring mittens and a hat.
According to Jónsson, the weather will be reasonably clear during the day during the race, but it will get colder in the evening.
"It will be fairly clear weather, partly cloudy and bright in parts. The best weather that way. The temperature still doesn't go much above 10 or 11 degrees at the best of times," he says.
"The temperature is dropping a bit in the evening, it quickly drops to 5 or 6 degrees."
The weather has often been warmer when the Reykjavík Marathon takes place. Runners can also expect to head north on Sæbraut and out to Seltjarnarnes. mbl.is/Eggert Jóhannesson
As good as could be expected
"There will be a certain northerly direction, around 5-10 meters per second. It could be a bit windy at Sæbraut and out to Seltjarnarnes," he says about what marathon runners can expect during the race.
"The wind will decrease somewhat as the day goes on, but it still won't calm down completely, there will still be some breeze in the evening," he says Þorsteinn and explains that this is as good weather as could be expected this late in the summer.
