Work on the connection of Suðuræð 2 hot water supply ended at 22.40 last night and water was started to be released back to the transport channel before midnight. It was over in the middle of the night.

This is stated in an announcement from Veitur, which says that the plan to open all the neighborhoods simultaneously was adapted to the situation as it went along.

Water is released to the areas one by one along the pipeline, and now Norðlingaholt, the upper district in Kópavogur and part of Garðabær have good pressure.

"The water is slowly being opened to other areas along Suðuræð. It takes time to build up pressure in the distribution system, but once residents get hot water to their homes, it will not go back unless something happens.

When the water is returned to the distribution system, leaks can occur, and if people notice this outside the house, it is important to report it immediately to Veitur on the emergency number 516 6161. If there is a leak inside, a plumber must be contacted," the announcement further states.

Updated at 7.10am:

The hot water is now slowly flowing into almost all neighborhoods. It will take several hours to reach full pressure.
