The luxury yacht Octopus is now docked at Faxagarður in Reykjavík Harbor. The yacht is owned by Swedish tycoon Roger Samuelsson, who owns a majority stake in the Swiss pharmaceutical company SHL Medical.
The yacht was first launched in 2003 and according to the website Superyachts is the 26th largest in the world today. Octopus is 126 meters long and contains two helicopters, a remote-controlled diving device, and a submarine.
Formerly owned by a Microsoft tycoon
This is not the first time that the yacht has stopped in Iceland, but the last time it arrived was in 2015, when it was owned by Paul Allen, who is one of the founders of Microsoft and had the yacht built at the time.
Allen died in 2018, and Octopus was advertised for sale in 2019 after undergoing a refurbishment in 2018. Roger Samuelsson then bought it in 2021.
It is not known if Samuelsson is a passenger on board the yacht that arrived in Iceland at 8:30 this morning.
