Four were injured after a two car collision

Four people are injured after two cars collided near Gígjukvísl River on Skeiðarársandur  in the third hour today. The Coast Guard helicopter is on its way to the scene.

This is confirmed by Sveinn Kristján Rúnarsson, senior police officer at the police in Southland, in an interview with mbl.is.

The Coast Guard's helicopter, ambulances, and other emergency responders have been sent to the scene.

The police received the call at 14.21, but it is not possible to say more about the condition of the injured.

The ring road around Skeiðarársandur has been closed temporarily due to the car accident.
