Pride Parade went great yesterday
According to the organizer, yesterday's Pride parade from Hallgrímskirkja to Hjómskálagarður Park was a huge success. The police are saying the same thing.
Huge crowds gathered downtown to watch the march and celebrate the queer community and its struggles.
The Pride parade’s leader, Anna Eir Guðfinnudóttir, says that everything went very well as far as she knows.
"Everything was just like in a story. [...] The weather at its best and the walk at its best," she says.
"Many millions"
Asked if she can put a number on how many people came to observe and participate in the march, she says that there were at least "many, many thousands of people" but that she cannot give an exact number. In the end, however, she adds: "Many millions!"
The police in the capital region also say that the Pride parade went very well.
"We are incredibly happy with the day," says Hjördís Sigurbjörnsdóttir, assistant superintendent of police.
