"It was relatively in the most calm way possible, so far I don't have any big issues in my hands after this National Festival," says Karl Gauti Hjaltason, police chief in the Westman Islands

He says that the last night of the National Festival was similar to the previous night and that no serious issues came to the attention of the police.

"But of course, as I've always said, there are always some disagreements and fights and some drugs, but nothing serious,"  he says.

"That's what we're aiming for"

He mentions that people have now started to go home and some lines have started to form at Herjólfur ferry.

"Still, of course, it's nothing like what will happen here later today when more people are up."

Finally, Hjaltason says that he is happy with how well this year's National Festival went.

"That's what we're aiming for. That people can safely have fun down in Herjólfsdalur valley. That is all we ask for."
