Charges have been issued against a man who is suspected of stabbing another man in Súðavík.
This is what Karl Ingi Vilbergsson, prosecutor at the District Commissioner, says in a statement to mbl.is, adding that the man is charged with attempted murder.
Custody extended by four weeks
The charges have not yet been disclosed but the man is the only one with the legal status of the defendant in the case.
He has been in custody since early June when he was arrested and detained on grounds of investigative interests and suspicion of stabbing a man with a knife in his home.
The custody period expired yesterday but has been extended by four weeks, according to Vilbergsson.
