“He seems to have escaped incredibly well”
A truck collapsed around 6 pm on the Ring Road in South Iceland, near the road to Reynisfjara black beach. One person was in the car, but he is not badly injured.
Rescue teams are at the scene. The vehicle seems to be beyond repair, but the police say the driver has not been seriously injured. He exited himself from the car after the truck rolled over.
“He seems to have escaped incredibly well,” Garðar Már Garðarsson, the Chief Inspector in South Iceland, told mbl.is. “It is surprising that he didn’t get hurt any worse.
The man will still be taken to a further examination in health care. The road will not be closed, but traffic is controlled through the area.
Jónas Erlendsson, the local news writer for mbl.is, was on the scene. He says that the truck is completely crushed. “This truck will not be repaired,” he says.
