The US astrophysicist and science celebrity Neil deGrasse Tyson visited the geothermal exhibition at the Hellisheiðarvirkjun power plant, and the exhibition’s employees were delighted.

The geothermal exhibition is an educational program where visitors have the opportunity to learn about geothermal energy and sustainable energy in Iceland.

The employees of the exhibition were not aware that deGrasse Tyson was going to visit today.

“He came just as part of a tourist group that came by cruise ship, and we didn’t know who he was until he started asking questions,” Sindri Smárason, an employee of the geothermal exhibition at the Hellisheiðavirkjun power plant, tells us.

Smárason says that deGrasse Tyson was very interested in the exhibition but that he was especially interested in Carbfix. The exhibition teaches visitors about Carbfix, which works to turn carbon dioxide into stone to combat climate change.

Rockstar in growing interest in science

In a post posted on the Instagram page of the geothermal exhibition, you can see the staff of the exhibition posing with deGrasse Tyson.

"We had a great time welcoming Neil deGrasse Tyson to the exhibition this morning! It was so fun for our team to meet one of the greatest Science Communicators out there. Neil asked some hard-hitting questions and we were happy to answer them," is reported in the Instagram post.
