Two people are still kept asleep in the hospital after the bus accident that happened in Öxnadalur on Friday.

This is what Jóhannes Sigfússon, deputy commissioner of the North-East Police, says.

Ten people were admitted to hospital after the accident, but Sigfússon said he didn’t have information about how many people were still there.

22 Czech tourists

Investigations into the accident are extensive and are still ongoing.

The road across Öxnadalsheiði was closed up from five o’clock on Friday afternoon and was not reopened until late that the night.

22 Czech tourists were on board the bus. Five were admitted to the hospital in Akureyri and five were transported by helicopter and medical aircraft to the National Hospital in Reykjavík.
