The weather will be the best in South and West Iceland today and tomorrow. Generally, it’s expected to be fine weather in many parts of the country in the coming days, and it will warm considerably this week, leaving the unusual cold front last week.

“It is possible that temperatures can reach up to 18 degrees C in several places in south Iceland and then in the north, as the week progresses,” Katrín Agla Tómasdóttir, meteorologist at the Icelandic Met Office, tells us.

The cold front ending

The cold front has been a pain to farmers, especially in northern and eastern Iceland, in the past week, but it looks like it’s finally coming to an end.

“We’re seeing the end of it [the cold front] now, it’s getting warmer, but as in the night, the night frost is still in the mountains in east Iceland. It’s gradually warming up and the night frost is decreasing,” Tómasdóttir says.

As for the wet weather in these regions, the wind will be from the south and it will be dry in the north and the eastern part of the country, although there could be some rain along the east coast is possible on Thursday.

In the north of Iceland, the weather is expected to be dry and bright in the next days.
