Eleven people running for president

A total of 11 people will be running for the office of the President of Iceland. This was stated in the ruling of the National Electoral Commission.
Before the weekend, 13 candidates submitted their candidacy documents to the National Electoral Commission, which announced at a press conference this morning that the candidacies of Kári Vilmundsson Hansen and Viktor Traustason were not valid.
These are the ones running for president:
- Arnar Þór Jónsson
- Ásdís Rán Gunnarsdóttir
- Ástþór Magnússon Wium
- Baldur Þórhallsson
- Eiríkur Ingi Jóhannsson
- Halla Hrund Logadóttir
- Halla Tómasdóttir
- Helga Þórisdóttir
- Jón Gnarr
- Katrín Jakobsdóttir
- Steinunn Ólína Þorsteinsdóttir
After reviewing the presidential candidates’ list of recommendations over the weekend, four candidates were given until yesterday to add to their signatures, namely Ástþór Magnússon, Helga Þórisdóttir, Eiríkur Ingi Jóhannsson and Arnar Þór Jónsson, and all of them were able to gather a sufficient number of signatures.
