Yellow alert from noon tomorrow

A yellow alert will take effect tomorrow at noon in the Westfjords, Strandir, and the North West.

The warning is due to a wind gust from the northeast and north that will reach 13 to 20 m/s. This will be accompanied by heavy snowfall, blizzard or blowing snow, most of which will be felt in Strandir. Poor visibility and deteriorating road conditions can be expected.

New low to the north tomorrow

According to the forecast from the Icelandic Met Office, a low will move northwards in the direction of east Iceland tomorrow, then take a course to the west.

The low will be accompanied by heavy precipitation and snowfall in the northern part of Iceland.

Then, winds from the north create a considerable blizzard, which can cause travel difficulties.
