Black ice in Reykjavík

There is black ice on the streets and sidewalks in the capital area and police are encouraging drivers and pedestrians to be careful.

“There is black ice on the streets but we haven’t received any reports of an accident caused by it this evening,” Lúðvík Kristinsson, the police’s Inspector of Traffic, tells us.

Kristinsson urges drivers and pedestrians to be careful, as roads will be extremely slippery this evening and into the early morning.
