Hoping to get some volcanic action

American tourists who mbl.is spoke to when they came out of the Blue Lagoon yesterday said that the experience was unique. Vincent and Heidi from the US said they were disappointed that they had not seen the eruption.
The trip was not disrupted too much
They were upbeat and said their trip had been slightly disrupted by a volcanic eruption on the Reykjanes peninsula. They were supposed to go to the Blue Lagoon on Sunday but had to go yesterday instead.
“The only disappointment is that we have not seen an active volcanic eruption,” Vincent laughs.
They came from the lagoon cheerful, saying the experience was unique and very relaxing. It was therefore a pleasure that the trip to the Blue Lagoon was not canceled.
Even though the Blue Lagoon was high on the list, they also saw many other things they had planned for, such as Vík in Mýrdal, Reykjavík and the Golden Circle.
Spectacular experience but would have liked to see the lava flowing
Marta, who lives in London, UK, was among the guests who checked out the opening of the Blue Lagoon yesterday. She is most pleased with the visit to the lagoon, but she would have been happy to see a little lava flow.
Does it cause you concern to think of how many recent eruptions have occurred in this area?
“Not at all, actually, quite the opposite. Of course, I don’t know much about how volcanoes work, so I had hoped that we would have the opportunity to see magma and volcanic activity,” Marta tells a reporter at the scene, adding:
“But when we arrived on Monday, we were told that this didn’t work – there had just been a 24-hour window. Now, the lava field is black,” she says.
Worried about not getting to the lagoon
She says that the experience at the Blue Lagoon was amazing and she was impressed by the blue water. She also praised the service and staff at the Blue Lagoon.
As has been mentioned, she and her travel companies arrived in Iceland on Monday. They were worried about not getting to the Blue Lagoon, as it was closed when they landed.
“We were worried that we wouldn’t be able to reach the Blue Lagoon because it was closed. So we were ecstatic when we found out that it had opened,” Marta concludes.
