“There are 30 collisions waiting for us all over the city. I’ve called out all my people,” Kristján Kristjánsson says, but he is the CEO of the company Árekstur.is that assists people that have a collision in traffic.

According to him, this number of crashes is due to the fact that traffic lights stopped working due to a shortage of electricity. Then snow is falling in the capital area with short intervals and visibility is lacking.

Two notifications per minute

“This is one of the worst times we’ve had at the company. It’s clear that we’ll be working until late tonight,” Kristjánsson says. He had already left the workplace for the day when  there was a sudden explosion in notifications of accidents.

“Just as I’ve been talking to you (journalist) for one minute, two announcements have been made,” Kristjánsson says before he rushed to assist a caller reporting an accident.

Arekstur.is assists drivers who have been involved in a crash to fill out damage reports and ensure a thorough examination of the situation as well as taking pictures of the scene.
