No volcanic activity has been visible in the eruption southeast of Hagafell since one o'clock this morning. Then there is no harmonic tremor either.
This is confirmed by Elísabet Pálmadóttir, a natural disaster expert at the Icelandic Meteorological Office. She says it is premature to declare the end of the eruption, but experts will meet about the situation at 9.30 am. Maybe it will done then.
Last night the power of the eruption had decreased significantly and activity could only be seen in the northern fissure.
Many geoscientists predicted a short eruption, but the power of the eruption quickly subsided shortly after the eruption began on Sunday.
