One of the coldest months

Last December was among the coldest Decembers in Iceland this century. This is stated in a summary from the Icelandic Met Office.
The average temperature was well below the national average.
The cold weather was, however, not like the cold season that began in December 2022.
“The month was dry and calm. It was relatively cold in the north, but warmer on the south coast,” the Met Office writes.
3,7 points below average in Akureyri
The average temperature in Reykjavík in December was -1.2 degrees, 1.9 degrees below the average between 1991 and 2020 and 1.6 degrees below the average for the last ten years.
The average temperature in Akureyri was -4.4 degrees, which is 3.7 degrees below the average between 1991 and 2020, and 3.3 degrees below the average for the last ten years.
In Stykkishólmur, the average temperature for the month was -1.8 degrees and -0.3 degrees in Höfn, Hornafjörður. The average temperature in Iceland was 2.4 degrees below the average between 1991 and 2020.
There were 14 white snow days in Reykjavík in December, which is two days more than the average between 1991 and 2020. There were 23 white snow days in Akureyri, five more than the average between 1991 and 2020.
