The eruption seen from a helicopter

The estimated length of the fissure opening at Sundhnúkar crater rowis 3.5 kilometers long. It is nearly four times longer than the fissure opening at Litli-Hrútur in July of this year.

This is stated on the website of the Icelandic Met Office.

The fissure is rapidly growing and the lava flow is estimated to be 100 to 200 cubic meters per second, which is many times the amount of lava flow from previous eruptions on the Reykjanes peninsula in recent years.
