Social Democrats on the rise
The Social Democrats would have the largest number of votes if parliamentary elections were held today. This is reflected in Gallup’s new national poll on party support in parliament.
In addition, the party’s support varies little between October and November, with a percentage level of 0.1-1.2 percentage points.
The government would not survive
The three government parties - the Independence Party, the Progressive Party and the Left Green Movement - would lose the majority if elections were held today, with just under 20% of the population voting for the Independence Party, almost 9% for the Progressive Party and just over 5% for the Left Green Movement.
Support for the government coalition is about 33%, a percentage point lower than last month.
The Social Democratic Alliance is on the verge of winning
The national poll shows that just over 28% voted for the Social Democrats, which is just over 8% more than the Independence Party, which gets the second-highest support according to the national poll.
It is interesting to note that the Centre Party, the Pirate Party and the Progressive Party share the third place in the list with around 9%, followed by the Reform Party with around 8% and the People’s Party with around 7%.
The Socialist Party of Iceland has the lowest support, around 4%.
Almost 17% of those who participated in the poll either did not want to take a position or to give it up, and 9% would either not vote at all or vote and turn in an empty ballot.
