The business life in Grindavík is slowly starting with restoration work being done. Work is being done to fix the pipes and fill in the cracks, some of which are so deep that several tons of gravel and sand are needed to fill them.

Four government ministers made their way through town yesterday, accompanied by rescue workers. The ministers agreed on the importance of going to the location to experience the situation in Grindavík and gain a better understanding of what needs to be done.

Bogi Adólfsson, chairman of Þorbjörn rescue team, showed the ministers around town. He says the days were more enjoyable after the access of residents and businesses to the town was extended, even though the role of the local rescue team has not changed much alongside that. The situation is always being re-evaluated, cracks are mapped, changes are being monitored and the town is being reviewed. The rescue team will continue to participate in that, as they are well- acquainted with the local area, he says.
