Landsbjörg’s rescue teams had a busy day last night due to the weather and the teams had to go to several calls around the country.

Car got stuck in the snow

According to Jón Þór Víglundsson, the information officer of Landsbjörg, the biggest rescue call last night was searching for two people north of Mýrdalsjökull glacier. The men had been going to the east and chose to go north of the glacier because of road-closures. When they didn’t return to their destination, the rescue team was alerted and they went to look for them. The men were found last night where their car was stuck in a pile of snow at Brennisteinskvísl north of Mýrdalsjökull glacier. The car was freed and the men were at their destination about 4 AM last night.

The towing truck got stuck

The rescue team in Bolungarvík was called out last night and had to perform several tasks. East of Hérað, a rescue-team had to be sent up to Brúardalur. There were five people in two cars that had been stuck in snow. The second car that was stuck was the towing truck that had been sent to get the car out of the snow.

In Hveragerði there was a heavy wind and a lot of property damage due to the wind, and the same goes for Laugavatn. There were trailers that were starting go to the side and hit the next trailer due to the winds.
