A young man was handcuffed outside the Ministerial residence in Tjarnargata in Reykjavik, Iceland, this morning during a government meeting.
While a journalist from mbl.is waited for the government meeting to end, there was a surprise on the street outside the Ministerial residence. A young man, apparently under the influence, was planning to steal an electric scooter, which was owned by a carpenter who was working in the garden of the building next to the Ministerial residence.

The carpenter quickly responded and managed to turn the man down and with the help of three drivers working for the ministerial team, they were able to move the man into handcuffs and the young man was then removed by police when they came to the scene.
This episode did not interfere with the government meeting, which was chaired by Bjarni Benediktsson, Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs, in the absence of Prime Minister Katrín Jakobsdótttur, who was busy with other diplomatic duties.
