Bæjarins Bestu pylsur hotdogs has opened its second outlet at KEF International Airport. It is a hot dog stand located in the so-called “pop-up” operating space in a holding area in the airport’s southern building.
Not everyone will be able to feast on the hot dogs, however, since only those passengers going to the UK, the United States and other countries outside the Schengen area will be able to feast on the hot dogs. The place will only be open for one year.
This is in an announcement on Isavia’s website.
“Isavia this winter announced a call for parties to operate catering in pop-up spaces in the waiting area in the southern building of Keflavík International Airport. The waiting area is for passengers who have passed through borders and are on their way to countries outside the Schengen area,” the notice reads.
The Icelandic hot dogs are very popular
It is also noted that the hot dog stand is particularly suitable in the area as a large proportion of those who pass through the holding area are connecting passengers who spend an average of only an hour in the terminal. Because of this, a strong emphasis was placed on the speed of the outlets when selecting the restaurant for the space.
“We want visitors to Keflavík International Airport to feel and experience Iceland when they are there and there are few dishes more Icelandic than the Bæjarins bestu hot dogs. The reputation of Bæjarins Bestu has spread widely, so we are delighted to be able to offer them to the guests at the airport,” says Gunnhildur Erla Vilbergsdóttir, head of department of stores and restaurants at Isavia, in the announcement.
Bæjarins bestu hotdogs has now ten locations in total. Seven locations are in the capital area and three in Suðurnes, including the two at the KEF International Airport.
