The Icelandic Healthcare Association of the Capital Area has contracted with the Icelandic healthcare technology company Dicino for the continued use and development of artificial intelligence as a tool at the Centre for Information and Communication.
This is in an announcement of the Icelandic Health Care Association.
A successful pilot project
A pilot project using AI approach in internet chats at Heilsuvera has proved successful. This involves an automated check-in interview with the patient before the Information Center specialists take over the chat. The patient is then asked about symptoms and risk factors, but the system knows more than 1,200 medical issues and may ask more than 5,500 questions, both in Icelandic and English.
The experience with the service shows that an increasingly large part of the business can be resolved through telematic solutions, the agreement on continuing the collaboration between Healthcare in the capital area and Dicino was signed yesterday.
Saves time for healthcare professionals
“In the end, it’s about using technology responsibly for the public good. There is no automatic decision-making regarding the treatment itself, but we are just saving one of the main resources, which is time. In this case, the time of dedicated healthcare professionals is lacking worldwide,” commented Steingrímur Árnason, technical director of Dicino.
