The first day of June greeted the residents of Þórshöfn with warm weather and in the afternoon the temperature was still 20 degrees Celsius (68 degrees in Fahrenheit). The sea swimming group of women that call themselves “Baðbombur” or Bathing Babes, used the opportunity and jumped straight into the sea after finishing the workday.
A few smaller up and coming “Bathing Babes” followed suit and jumped into the sea, in between playing on the beach and baking delicious sand cakes on the shore. They said to the reporter of Morgunblaðið: “We want the weather to be this good all summer!”
