Ran into another overturned car

Two roll overs occurred in Öræfi at around ten this morning. A car roll over near Kvísker was reported before ten o’clock, but responders ran into another overturned car on their way to the scene of the accident.

Emergency airlift launched from Höfn in Hornafjörður

In that case, a RV rolled off the road at Fjallsárlón. A woman passenger in the RV was injured and a medical flight was launched out of Höfn in Hornafjörður, due to possible internal bleeding.

Car roll over and broken windows in Öræfi

According to information from the Police in South of Iceland, the woman is in pain throughout her body, but the severity of her injuries is unclear. She was driven to Höfn by ambulance and will likely be taken from there by air ambulance to Reykjavík.

Further examination at the hospital

In the case of the overturned vehicle near Kvísker, the driver was hit on the head and will need an x-ray imaging for safety. The driver, his wife and their child are being taken to the South Iceland Healthcare Center for further examination.

Both cases involve foreign tourists.
