Uncertainty level lifted over cyber attacks

The Commissioner of Police in consultation with CERT-IS and the Communications Directorate-General has lifted the uncertainty level of the Civil Protection Agency over cyber-attacks linked to the European Council summit.

The level of uncertainty took effect on Tuesday, but the announcement comes after an analysis by CERT-IS has revealed that the scope of attack attempts has decreased significantly since the meeting ended on Wednesday.

“Protective measures have worked well and there has been no real incident in the past 24 hours. There is evidence that the group that launched the cyber attacks in the last few days has focused its attention beyond the Icelandic internet district,” the announcement reads.

"The Civil Protection urges the public, however, to be vigilant, to maintain a high level of cyber security, and critical infrastructure operators are also urged to be alert and thorough and report any unexpected attacks."
