The oldest man in Iceland
Karl Sigurðsson in Ísafjörður is the oldest living male in Iceland. He turned 105 on May 14. He was baptized on the day of the sovereignty of December 1, 1918.
Sigurðsson was born in Ísafjörður, but his first year his family moved to Hnífsdalur, where he lived for the longest time. He was a captain for 30 years, long in boats bearing the name Mímir. Sigurðsson and Kristjana Hjartardóttir, who became 95, were married for 71 years. Sigurðsson has been in the nursing home Eyri in Ísafjörður, for several years. He is physically well, goes out and walks outside the home,” the Facebook page “Langlífi” or Long Life says.
