TV series "Verbúðin" took home 8 awards

The television show Verbúðin , produced by Vesturport, got the most Edda awards last night, or a total of nine, when the awards of the Icelandic Academy of Television and Film Arts (ÍKSA) were handed out at a celebration at Háskólabíó earlier last night. There were 26 awards in 26 categories, as well as honorary awards that fell to the film director Ágúst Guðmundsson .

Verbúðin was chosen the television programme of the year, Mikael Torfason, Björn Hlynur Haraldsson and Gísli Örn Garðarsson were awarded for their script in the show, and Gísli Örn Garðarsson and Nína Dögg Filippusdóttir for their acting in the lead roles. Verbúðin was nominated for a total of 17 awards.

The films Godland , directed by Hlynur Pálmason and A Letter from Helga , directed by Ása Helga Hjörleifsdóttir, received the second most awards or two each. Hlynur Pálmason got the awards for best director for Godland and also for the filming by Maria von Hausswolff. Björn Thors and Anita Briem were awarded for best supporting actor in a supporting role in A Letter from Helga.
