The Fire brigade in East Iceland was called out to Unaós in Hjaltastaðaþingháls due to a fire earlier today. Deputy Fire Chief Ingvar Birkir Einarsson confirmed to mbl.is that there was a fire in outhouses of the farm.

According to mbl.is, around 250 sheep and around ten goats have died in the fire.
The first report of the fire was received by a passer-by just before 1 PM today.

Will be monitoring the area
Einarsson says that the fire brigade arrived at 13.40 PM, or about forty minutes after the announcement.
The fire has been extinguished and fire crews are waiting to begin cleaning up operations. Fire crews will monitor the area until dawn, Einarsson said.
