Appeal ready: Want four weeks' detention
The district attorney has decided to issue an indictment against the two men suspected of planning terrorist acts in this country.
“The charges are ready,” says Karl Ingi Vilbergsson, a prosecutor with the district attorney’s office. He adds that they are expected to be introduced when a four-week continued custody of the men is requested in Reykjavík District Court today.
Asked if the men will be charged with Section 100 of the Criminal Code which deals with terrorism, Karl Ingi says that provision has been considered. Other than that, he would not comment on the content of the charges.
The men were remanded in custody last month for a further two-week period, which expires today. They have been in custody for eleven weeks, but a maximum of twelve weeks can be obtained without charge.
