Hot lava is flowing in Reykjavik for the first time in nearly 5000 years. No, there has not been an eruption in the capital, because the lava is flowing in a safe space inside a showroom of the Lava Show at Fiskislóð 73 in the Grandi area of Reykjavík.

The Lava Show, which has been hugely popular in Vík since they started the show in 2018, opened in Reykjavik on Nov. 10 th .

The Lava Show melts lava until it reaches 1100°C and pours into a viewing room full of people. The highest level of security is maintained, so it can be said that this is the only place on the world stage where you can safely experience red-hot lava up close. The exhibition focuses on education and a personal experience and at the end of the show guests can ask questions about the show.

The couple is over the moon

The couple, Júlíus Ingi Jónsson and Ragnhildur Ágústdóttir, are the founders of the Lava-Show. They are over the moon with the opening and have spared no expense in making the experience spectacular. Most notably, there is a stunning wall of pillar rocks which references the unique lava formations found throughout Icelandic nature.

The show also includes a custom-built furnace ordered from the American company Fibersim. Fibersim builds, among other things, rocket parts for SpaceX and Blue Origin, but the latter is the company of the billionaire Jeff Bezos.
