Recently the readers of Condé Nast Traveller picked out the twelve friendliest cities in Europe forthe year 2022. The criteria was friendliness of reisidents and smiles and how welcoming they felt tovisitors. Iceland came in third on the list.

There are a lot of things to consider when people are evaluating different city experiences, such as the history, the architecture and the food scene to name a few. However, when all is said and done, it is the people who are often the main thing when it comes to evaluating the experience.

Creative and sometimes unusual food scene

This is what was written about Reykjavík in Condé Nast Traveller:

"Reykjavik, on Iceland's coast, is the country's capital and largest city. Well-known for its volcanic activity, visitors flock to the natural pools here - brilliantly blue and bubbling - including the particularly popular geothermal Blue Lagoon Spa. Out of the water though, a myriad museums dedicated to the island's fascinating Viking history, as well as a creative (and, at times, unusual) food scene and a bevvy of quirky Iceland hotel options are on offer to all those who make the journey."

These were the twelve friendliest cities of Europe according to Condé Nast Traveller:

1. San Sebastian, Spain

2. Bruges, Belgium

3. Reykjavík, Iceland

4. Copenhagen, Denmark
