The forecast for this weekend is good weather all over the country and in many places the temperature will go over 15 degrees Celsius. In Reykjavik there will be calm and hot both Saturday and Sunday, although Saturday could be a bit cloudy.
The warmest weather will be in the northeast and the forecast for Akureyri is 19 degrees Celicus on Sunday and possibly stretching to Monday. The temperature might go over 20 degrees Celsius in some places.
"The weather will be very good in and around Eyjafjörður and in Skagafjörður as well and possibly around Myvatn. There is good weather in the charts in many places," says Þorsteinn Jónsson meteorologist at the Ice Met Office to mbl.is.
The reason for temperatures rising higher in the north than in the Reykjavik area is caused by warm winds coming from the mountains, that often cause temperature to rise quite fast.
"The sea breeze brings the temperature faster down here around Reykjavik. But we still think the temperature could e around 15 degrees on both Saturday and Sunday."
