Dental clinics in Budapest, Hungary, have started competing for customers in Iceland. Since 2016, they have served more than 5,000 Icelanders.

Grímur Axelsson, who represents the clinic Kreativ Dental, recently invited a reporter from the business section of Morgunblaðið, to take a look at the company’s new operating room. He estimates that more than 3,500 Icelanders have visited the clinic since 2016. News of the demand for dental services spread, which sparked the interest of other dental clinics in marketing their services in Iceland.

When Grímur first learner about Kreativ Dental, he states he knew “the dental health of Icelanders was poor, and people hesitated to seek [dental] services, due to pricing.” He notes the next step will be to offer Icelanders joint replacement surgery in Budapest.

The couple Hjalti Garðarsson and Hrafnhildur Sigurðardóttir run the dental clinic Íslenska Klíníkin in Budapest. In 2019, the clinic was visited more than a thousand times by Icelanders.

Other dental clinics that have served Icelanders in Budapest are Madenta and Helvetica Clinics

The procedures frequently require patients to travel abroad a few times, but still, they are said to be less costly than in Iceland.
