Iceland Remains Europe’s Greenest

According to the latest figures, updated yesterday, from the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), Iceland is still the country among EFTA and EU member states with the lowest 14-day incidence per 100,000 inhabitants, or 8.4, mbl.is reports.
The development is very positive in Norway, some parts of which are now classified as green, that is, with a 14-day incidence of less than 25 per 100,000 inhabitants. The incidence rate for the whole country of Norway is 69.25, followed by that of Finland, which is 97.66.
The rate is the highest in Portugal, or 1,190.09, followed by Czechia, with 914.58, and Spain, with 843.05. To see the complete list, click here.
The latest figures on covid.is, updated today at 11 am, show the 14-day incidence rate per 100,000 inhabitants in Iceland at 8.2. Four new domestic cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in Iceland yesterday. All four people diagnosed were already in quarantine.
Mbl.is reports that all four are members of the same family and that the cases were confirmed during border testing. This was confirmed by Chief Epidemiologist Þórólfur Guðnason. He would like to see tighter measures adopted at the border to reduce the risk of infections in the country.
Three active infections were confirmed during second border testing yesterday, and three travelers await the results of antibody tests.
At present, there are 26 active cases of COVID-19 in Iceland, and 11 people are in the hospital due to the disease. A total of 5,538 vaccinations have been completed.
