The horse show Landsmót, which was to be held at Hella, South Iceland, in July, has been postponed until July 2022, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Morgunblaðið reports. The decision was made this week by the Icelandic Equestrian Association, the Horse Breeders Association and organizers of the show.

Another horse show, planned at Sprettur, Kópavogur, for 2022, will therefore not be held until 2024.

Health officials announced on April 14 that this summer, at least through August, public gatherings will be limited to 2,000 people. Therefore, the horse show cannot be held this summer.

Morgunblaðið reports that in order for Landsmót to be profitable, between six and seven thousand people would have to attend.

On the Landsmót website, organizers state that guests who have purchased tickets to the event will be receiving an email from the ticket sale tix.is, and information regarding refunds will be accessible on landsmot.is.

Inquiries regarding the event should be sent to landsmot@landsmot.is, and those regarding tickets to info@tix.is.
