Heavy Rain Warning for East Fjords and Southeast
The meteorologist of the Icelandic Road Administration warns of a storm along the south coast until noon. On the stretch between Seljalandsfoss waterfall and Vík í Mýrdal, and in the area east of Skaftafell as well, wind gusts of 35-40 m/sec are expected. Motorists are asked to please drive cautiously and to slow down when visibility is poor.
The Icelandic Met Office has issued a yellow alert - a heavy rain warning for the East Fjords and Southeast Iceland, effective through tomorrow morning at 7 am. Easterly winds of 10-15 m/sec in the East Fjords and 13-18 m/sec in the southeast are expected.
Please be advised that the heavy rain will cause rivers and streams to swell and increase the risk of flash floods and landslides.
