Storm in most parts of Iceland- tourists rescued from Holtavörðuheiði

Several rescue teams across Iceland have been sent this morning due to a storm with snow and bad visibility. Nine tourists got stuck in Holtavörðuheiði in North Iceland but have been helped out by SAR teams. Four children are in the group. 

Holtavörðuheiði is closed as it is impassable today. Many roads are closed due to the weather and people need to check safetravel.is and road.is for road conditions. 

The weather is expected to subside by this evening.
