Two dead in Selfoss fire

The fire department in Selfoss, a town in South Iceland were called out when a fire broke out in a  home in Kirkjuvegur. A couple died in the fire.

The couple was thought to be on the second floor of the building and fire fighters had a difficult time searching for them as the house was ablaze.

Two men are in police custody, the owner of the building and a woman who was a guest there, while police are investigating the cause of the fire.

The fire was reported at 4 pm yesterday and when fire fighters arrived at the scene the house was, according to reports, like a ball of fire with smoke and fire coming out of all the windows. The building is an old house from the 1950's.

The accompanying video was taken by a passer-by yesterday afternoon.
