Fans of Stefán Karl want a memorial statue raised in Hafnarfjörður

Numerous fans of Icelandic actor Stefán Karl Stefánsson who recently died of cancer want a statue of him raised in Hafnarfjörður, his home town. 

Over 500 thousand people have signed a petition to have the memorial statue raised, reports today's edition of Morgunblaðið. 

Stefánsson was 43 years old when he died of cancer of the bile duct.
