Prisoner escaped to Sweden
The prisoner who escaped from Sognið prison last night has escaped from Iceland. This has been confirmed by police to mbl.is. The prisoner left on a flight to Sweden at 07.34 this morning.
The prisoner, Sindri Þór Stefánsson was using another man's passport but security camera footage at Keflavik International Airport have show that it was him.
Swedish authorities have been notified and Interpol have issued an arrest warrant.
Sognið prison is an open prison. If people attempt escape they are transferred to another prison and their parole is affected.
