The couple who died in a car crash on the Lyngdalsheiði road in South Iceland were Dutch citizens, a man born in 1992 and a woman born in 1995. It seems that their car had verved off to the wrong half of the road when it collided head on with a lorry.

Weather conditions were good, with bright, sunny skies and clear roads. Police are investigating what happened.  Police furthermore contacted Dutch authorities to find the relatives of the deceased.

Two men were in the lorry and suffered minor injuries.
