Bad weather for travelling today

Snow, sleet, rain and wind are expected in North and North West Iceland today, as well as in parts of South Iceland according to reports by the Iceland Met Office. "Lélegt ferðaveður," is stated in the report which translates to "Bad travelling weather."

Winds and precipitation should subside in North Iceland late this afternoon. 

There was considerable snowfall in the West Fjods last night and bad visibility on mountain roads, including Holtavörðuheiði, the main road leading to North Iceland. 

Roads in many parts are icy so drivers are urged to take care.
