Consumers in Iceland can rest assured that their morning bowl of cornflakes has never been tainted by American urine, it has been announced.

US news website CNBC reported earlier this week that a video had emerged showing an employee of breakfast cereal giant Kellogg urinating on a factory assembly line.

In response to the incident, the Icelandic distributor of Kellogg products in Iceland Nói Síríus has issued a statement clarifying that there is no way that urine-contaminated products from the US factory (in Memphis, TN) could have entered the Icelandic market.

“All Kellogg products in Iceland are made in and imported from the United Kingdom and production is subject to the highest quality standards,” consumers are told.

“This is obviously a very serious matter for the Kellogg brand, but consumers in Iceland need not worry that they may have bought or may in the future buy products from the [Memphis] factory,” says Kristján Geir Gunnarsson, head of sales and marketing at Nói Síríus.

Kellogg USA are said to be taking the matter very seriously. A criminal investigation has been launched and the company is working closely with law enforcement authorities to catch the culprit.
