Do you fancy taking part in the 2016 Íslandsbanki Reykjavik Marathon this summer? Then get online and book your place now, before prices go up tomorrow.

Today is the last day you can get introductory discount entry fees for the Reykjavik Marathon – a charity-minded run for all ages and abilities organised annually in the Icelandic capital since 1984. From tomorrow, prices go up by an average of 20%.

This year’s event takes place on 20 August – the same day as Reykjavik Culture Night – and six different distances are available.

There is a kids’ run, a 3 km fun run, a 10 km race, a relay race, a half marathon, and the 42.2 km full marathon.

Runners also have the choice of registering as a charity runner and donating money to an Icelandic charitable organisation. Runners in 2015 collected more than ISK 80 million (approx. €570,000), benefiting 167 charities.

From tomorrow, entry fees rise for all distances – for instance from €62 to €75 for the full marathon (see table below for full details).

All information and registration details can be found on the official Reykjavik Marathon website here.
