Gunman arrested in Akureyri

An extensive police operation took place in Akureyri, North Iceland yesterday after shots were fired at an apartment building in the Naustahverfi area. 

Akureyri police asked for a special police unit from Reykjavik and seven officers were dispatched to Akureyri with the National coastguard helicopter at 02:40. 

A man was arrested at around 5 am and will be questioned later today.
