Fans of the Imagine Peace Tower on Viðey island off the coast of Reykjavik will be pleased to hear that it will be switched on again tomorrow.

This is the third lighting of the symbolic shafts of light this winter and the occasion tomorrow is the birthday of Yoko Ono, who conceived the monument to her late husband John Lennon.

It will be lit tomorrow, 18 February, and remain on for just one night, until 9 am on Friday morning.

The monument, which bears the words ‘Imagine Peace’ in 24 languages, was lit from 9 October (Lennon’s birthday) to December 8 (the anniversary of his death) and then again on 22 December for the winter solstice.
