The body of Guðmundur Geir Sveinsson, the man who died after falling in the icy waters of the Ölfusá river in South Iceland last year, has yet to be been found.

Sveinsson is believed to have fallen into the river by Selfoss Church in the early hours of Boxing Day 2015.

In previous cases of people falling into the Ölfusá river, bodies have usually been recovered on the same or next day, but Sveinsson has now been missing for well over a month. If he did indeed fall in near the church, his body would be expected to wash up on the western bank.

Search and rescue teams used boats, cars and drones to look for the victim in early January, but nothing was found. Search conditions are being hampered by the amount of ice currently on the river banks.
